Re: Summer Slide....

Thanks for the rice report Deet. Where have you been? Fall is my favorite season and as excited as I am for it, I am never in a rush to get through a Minnesota summer. Cold fronts getting down to the 40's at night are supposed to happen in early September, not early August. One river you will guess...

Re: Summer Slide....

Any body have a report on the wild rice crop? Haven't been out to my haunts yet this year. I have a hunch a lot of it got flooded out in late June and July rains. The water was high all summer until now. really high in some rivers. Nonetheless on three ricey rivers that I've observed there seems to...

Re: Spring Chronicles....

Thanks Fowler. I live on a sand lot so the first rainy day in May I go pick crawlers off a certain paved county road and that’s about it for me for the summer. I thought crawlers had to be kept on bedding and not dirt but I don’t know much about it. Guys typically don’t use crawlers up here - that ...

Re: Spring Chronicles....

Rain for tomorrow evening, so it'll be time to go pick up 8 dz night crawlers for the Opener to save $24-32. Am I the only 1 that still picks crawlers up off the ground for fishing? You get crawlers in your yard this early in the spring? Last year was the first time I picked my yard. I would get 3 ...

Re: Price of trucks....

Lanyard, I got a 2017 Expedition EL six weeks ago after spending about 6 months going through reports and sales listings for GM and Ford full-size SUVs. The Expedition EL has the most cargo, and since 2015 is powered by the 3.5L EcoBoost. That engine has been on the road in some F150's since 2011, a...

Re: Spring Chronicles....

I don't see any open lakes yet. Looks like many records will be set this year; several already.

Re: Spring Chronicles....

Here's an interesting comparison: 4-18-18 compared to 4-26-13. The 2013 photo and 2018 show approx equal snow coverage, however in 2013 the rivers (Rainy and St Louis) melt had advanced well beyond where we are today. The nearest clear satellite pic of 2013 is 4-20-13. That date had 100% snow covera...

Re: Spring Chronicles....

Still 36" of ice on one of our late freezers up here last night. Ice is solid and "dry" (not saturated with any liquid water yet). This lake typically locks up around Christmas and usually doesn't build more than 20" of ice in a whole winter. But the snow's almost gone. Will a 3'...
