Re: Marsh Lake

Marsh Lake will always have at least decent hunting periodically during the season. Its location makes it a spot I believe more ducks will fly over than any other lake. Thats said….I killed a lot of ducks on places other than Marsh. True….I wanted people to think I hunted there all the time…..and it...

Re: Moist Soil Management Information:

Am I on crack to think that could work??? No….You are probably just drunk. Here is what you are missing. They dug that ditch and they put that dirt where? Right where the grass is. So the crops would be flooded out before the grass is. I agree it would pull in the ducks. Good luck getting farmers on...

Re: Moist Soil Management Information:

I see the real issue going forward as farmers and the DNR both not benefiting from doing MSM. A farmer isn't going to want more water on their farm ground going into winter out of fear of flooded fields and the inability to get crops in before the crop insurance deadline the following spring; a real...

Re: Moist Soil Management Information:

What's your take on how big a MSM area should be to be worthwhile doing? One acre is worth doing. The more ducks you get the quicker they eat it out. 3000 ducks in your moist soul area is probably more then the refuge at swan lake lake this year at its peak. Swan is another one they dumped a ton of ...

Re: Moist Soil Management Information:

Good luck buying a rice farm. The real value in a rice paddy is in its value to convert it to a wetland. The land is generally worth about 500 bucks an acre, except if it is a rice paddy with a levee, it is worth 20 times that. Take down the levees, manage the invasives, monitor hydrology for 5-7 year...

Re: Would You Be Willing To Participate In This Type Of Group?

I am surprised the "concerned duck hunters" are still around. I thought most of them had died off. There can't be many of them left.

Re: When a favor goes bad.

It wasn't a guided hunt.At least involving a transfer of money or goods. That would be illegal!!!! Walker arranged the hunt…and I agreed to do it. I know Walker and he wanted to see what would happen. I think he thought everyone would drive me nuts. But, in reality it was just four guys out there en...

Re: Teen duck hunter survives after getting grazed by shotgun blast

On Sunday, Derek Bonsante was on a canoe in Emily, Minnesota, when some ducks flew toward him. The Shakopee hunter stood up on the craft just as some fellow hunters ashore were taking aim at the birds, according to the Brainerd Dispatch. Their ensuing shotgun blast grazed his head, prompting his par...

Re: Teen duck hunter survives after getting grazed by shotgun blast

surviving a shotgun blast that hit the side of his head. How far away was the shooter? What if he was 60 yards away? Leaving out details like this make me question if he was really in danger of dying. Were the "fellow" huters his friends? same party? Was he set up close to some one? If thi...
