Re: Waterfowl Gear on Craigslist

gut feeling is alot of people are getting out of it. The guys with 2 dozen decoys and hunt a ccouple weekends a year are either a) selling their stuff and using a buddy that is more serious or b) abandoning all together. That's my assessment based on the last 10yrs or better of having a pile of fair...

Re: Bands

^^^ I wouldn't say less interesting in my eyes, just less impressive to get one but when I do I'm still fascinated by the birds story..... In fact some of the most interesting bands I've shot have been 8, 9, 10 yr old birds that were banded as babies and I shot them within miles of the banding site....

Re: Bands

Jack miner duck band and a blue wing band are the only two really neat ones. I only have 1/2 dozen duck bands total and all of them have been memorable. I dont know how many goose bands (20ish) but dont much care. Finding banded geese in MN is like finding a truck with rusty rocker panels. I tend to...

Re: The "why is it" thread

I'll start. Ever since they built Maple Grove hospital, and I drive past it almost every day in 94 traffic, I've wondered why ambulances don't blast right down the shoulder and take the exit to the hospital, they will slowly crawl through stop and go traffic blaring the horn and flashing lights so ...

Re: Eco Boost owners, F-150?

their initial run had some of issues (turbo problems i think). pretty sure it's done now. with the 5.0 being as good as it is I don't know that you could talk me into an eco boost. That said dodge and chev have their problems too. Buddy just did a wheel bearing in an 18' chev with 10,000 on it. If y...

Re: Smokeless powder muzzle loader season

I know for a fact savage make (or made) a ML that would accept smokeless. Almost certain it's legal as long as you're still loading from the front and primer/cap are seperate from the charge. The synthetic is nice cuz it's a lot less corrosive/less smoke, etc but you have to be careful shooting it a...

Re: Rifle cartridges?

I doubt it's happening before this fall but anything is possible until the hunting synopsis is out. I would bet it's in the "near future" though with alot of other traditional "slug only" states going this route. No matter how you draw it up, ballistics don't change a whole lot b...

Re: Regulations That Need Updating

fair enough. For years I've wondered if there's enough interest to justify snipe and rail regulations and including it in HIP cert. I asked the last person (old timer) that sold me a license if anyone he'd ever had anyone that had hunted snipe and rail in his recollection and his answer was "no...

Re: Regulations That Need Updating

If we're talking regs as a whole, our whitetail management is in the stone ages between gun season in the middle of the rut and allowing party hunting.

When I read the fishing regs I almost have a seizure with all the different lakes and their individual restrictions.
