Managing wetlands in ways that promote a big flush of foods preferred by ducks - weeds and seeds. Smartweed, etc.

It's the "natural version" of flooded corn or millet.

In most areas of the state you will need a boat to scout. Most places you can drive right up to and check out will not be very productive. The last thing I would recommend to a new duck hunter is a duck call. If you are where the ducks want to be you do not need to call at all. You can kill plenty ...

I pluck and wax nice birds.

It's more a question of "efficiency" ... on a local scale. Well maintained nest boxes don't suffer nest predation like tree cavities. Predator populations are higher, habitat is lower quality and less available. It starts with Habitat, but logistically and economically, there's only a cert...
