Re: Your Thoughts on 2015 Duck Season...

I went into the season with expectations set exceptionally low on purpose, and it made for an outstanding year. I wanted to see how bad at duck hunting you had to be to only shoot 6 ducks a year. Turns out you have to be flocking terrible. I shot over 6 ducks ducks walking in to areas to pass shoot ...

Re: Vikings Tail gating

Thanks PH. was kicking around the web site and discovered we can take the Bus from the station 1 mile up the road from our place in Chan. It's the same run they make for the State Fair. For $4.50 each, pretty certain we'll rock the public transit :-) Haven't been to a game in a few years and hadn't...

Re: Open water hunting on lake Pepin?

So they just lay there and let the wind take them where it wants? Are the decoys attached to the boat? What kind of layout are they using that's paddle friendly?

Re: Open water hunting on lake Pepin?

If Pepin has the same rules as the river, why in the regs is Pepin listed as having the same rules as LOW and Mille Lacs?

This isn't a gray area.

Re: Low Level wetlands

They do have to walk in, they drag in their canoes. Ask Bill Gilbertson for areas to explore as he hunts smaller waters and the MN river bottoms once in a while. Not a bad idea though to walk the river bottoms, maybe jump shoot something as you are exploring/scouting for future hunts. Some misinfor...

Re: Open water hunting on lake Pepin?

Can you guys that have done this comment on the safety risks of this type of hunting? I am interested in trying it, but I don't have a death wish. It would seem that there are risks getting in and out of the layout as well as being in the layout itself. How much wind can handled without incurring s...

Re: It will start to ice up by this weekend.

Banged out a limit this morning in the metro on a slough that hasn't seen more than a spoon bill or two in weeks, bunch of birds showed up yesterday evening. Surprised I didn't die in that wind today though. The 1/2 acre floating bog I was in broke free from whatever it's anchor was all season and a...
