Shotgun shells

What’s the deal. I’ve been watching Rogers sporting goods ever week. Basically they have nothing. I need at least a case before fall. Why the shortage? I’ve heard the conspiracy theory’s about government buying all the ammo up. But what’s really going on.

Re: Local hatch

I think the match will suck overall. Few wetlands, ducks competing with honkers and swans for prime nesting locations. I’ve not see much, a few wood duck broods.

Re: We got a teal season and other changes

Good point about the 4 pm closures, it would be nice if the birds could rest in the afternoon.

Re: We got a teal season and other changes

I like/love all these changes. I might even goose hunt again with 5 per day during the regular season.

Re: Swans

Swans are out of control and in almost every decent sized wetland. I agree with Quack. Is there a connection between hunting and populations? Of course.

Re: Drought

Nice rain last night will really help central MN. Looks like ND got some spotty heavy rain last night. It's too late probably for hatched ducks this year, maybe for brood survival this might help.

Re: Drought

Even the ponds and small lakes around here (Metro) are low. We need rain but out west the need it much more.

Re: Drought

Saw my first batch of ducklings the other day. This decent, dry weather does help with brood survival. There are not seasonal wetlands as a negative. Lots' of goslings this year, I agree.

Wednesday night on the lake in the west metro . . . massive hatch, large mayflies, midges, etc. No mosquitos.

Re: Drought

Lakes around the metro are still in decent shape, ponds are low, much lower than in prior years. This could be a good thing for Minnesota and duck hunting this fall. I have over 200 pounds of millet and 20 pounds of smartweed to plant this June. That could make for some epic hunting this fall.
