Re: Miss River

Kind of what I expected. I may not even bother with the river until everything else freezes up.

Re: Anyone plan on heading out of state for some early teal?

You better believe it. I will be in Wisconsin hunting. Minnesota loves to set itself apart and did it once again by being the only state to give its hunters more opportunity. I guess they do not want the revenue!

Re: Lake Christina

I too recall reading several years back where the USA had more breeding ducks then Canada
I think breeding success in Canada is pretty low due to no crp or grass cover. I thought I read that in minnedosa, Manitoba success was like 5 percent. That is considered prime area but has no cover.

Re: Lake Christina

I agree the Dakotas is being drained fast. It is still very good right now but in twenty years who knows. Plus if most of the Dakotas are drained ducks are doomed because its the last of the good habitat.

Re: Lake Christina

I dont even hunt this lake but I was just curious as I had not read anything about it in the last year or so. I know they have pumped tons of money into it over the years with modest success. You are certainly correct in saying there is no body of water that fixes Minnesota. Minnesota is fo far gone...

Any Weaver or Winona guys out there? I am wondering what the conditions are looking like for vegetation. I imagine they are not good with all of the rain in June.

Lake Christina

Well it has been a few years now since the last drawdown. Has anyone seen this lake at all this summer? I would think if it worked it should be prime by now and this fall would be the time to hit it.

Re: Total Breeding Duck Population Estimates

The high breeding numbers really do not mean much to Minnesota as few of these ducks ever fly over the state anyway. Plus this year with all the rain the few remaining decent wetlands will probably be flooded and lack quality food anyway. The Dakotas will be where it is at as usual.

Re: Early Wisconsin teal, extended dove seasons approved

Looks like Wisconsin will be getting my money for the early teal season!
