Re: RE: Re: The "big push" and tail end of the duck season for 2016

. Bailey, i've hunted SD quite a few years now, and I concur, lower numbers. But I mostly blame that on degrading habitat caused by increasing water levels. If we run through a drought cycle and habitat increases, I expect a fast recovery. Habitat won't increase as we dry out here in SD. Ever since...

Re: The "big push" and tail end of the duck season for 2016

Huntable numbers of snows in SD, less this week in the area I hunt than last Saturday, which was the only migration day we've had. A lot of snows fed then left Saturday night. Divers are stacked on big water as well.

Re: The "big push" and tail end of the duck season for 2016

Been chasing mallards here in SD since last Thursday. We didn't gain many ducks due to thr storm, but they did flock up due to everything except big water icing over. Problem is they are being little shits when it comes to any sort of pattern. We sat yesterday all day and had 6 flocks work us. 2000+...

Re: Drain Tile

Our renter had a clause in the contract to "fix, improve, or adjust drainage at no cost to the owner.". Originally he said it was so he could repair some old.clay tile with new plastic. Then last fall they up and pattern tiled all 430 acres, re-sloped & reseeded nearly 2 miles of towns...

Re: Morning vs Evening Hunts

Evening has sucked balls last over the last week here in SD. Morning flights have been weak, maybe 25% of roosts going to feed. Mallards flying out after sundown and feeding into the night...but not moving from water to water in the mornings either.

Re: BPS offers $5.5B for Cabela's

No freaking clue what ff is talking about, but back to the original topic, I would guess that fowler hasn't been in a bass pro shop lately. The two I frequent annually are cleaner and more organized than the two cabelas I frequent. Cabelas has been trending downward in product quality for a while. S...

Re: Early goose season

HIP is a joke. "10+" Accounts for opening weekend for me. Especially when we can shoot 8 the first 2 weeks out here.

Re: RE: Re: Post a picture you took in the last week.

Goose jerky is awesome but kind of a pain in the ass. What kind of dehydrator do you have and how long did each batch take? I need to get a better/bigger one before I make some again. Last time I made it I had 15 geese to do and it took me all week. Get a grinder and a commercial sized dehydrator. ...

Re: Early goose season

These birds were banded using walk in / swim in fences during the molting period. Rocket nets are mainly used on ducks in SD.
