MSM basically encourages the growth of food producing plants in wetlands by imitating the wet and dry cycles of a natural wetland. You control the water level to do this.

Managing wetlands in ways that promote a big flush of foods preferred by ducks - weeds and seeds. Smartweed, etc.

It's the "natural version" of flooded corn or millet.
