Segment on Ron Schara’s program urges support for Land and Water Conservation Fund

The Land and Water Conservation Fund needs your help now.

Last month, I filmed this segment for Ron Schara’s program in Minnesota explaining the importance of the Land and Water Conservation Fund. Launched in 1964, the LWCF derives its income from a tiny portion of offshore oil lease revenues, then spends the dollars on parks, refuges, forests and wildlife areas. It is supposed to receive $900 million per year, but Congress funds only a fraction, then siphons the dollars to other priorities with bigger teams of lobbyists. President Obama has recommended full LWCF funding for the next fiscal year, but citizens need to demand that Congress follow through.
