Yeah they definitely don't like the Jake decoy and gobble call right now. I have the perfect ambush point just have to try and make it out again.

Kind of a double edged sword for me right now.... I've shot probably 60-70% of my birds without decoys but going archery this year I've felt like I needed them (at least a hen) to hold the birds while they/me positioned for a shot. I've been leaving the jake at home since mid may here but you think even a hen is doing more damage than good?

I almost never use a gobble anymore, used to use them for locating but owl call nowadays.... Jake is staying home until next spring.

They never roost in our back field...except this morning haha. I'm sure he saw me walk out, soon as he flew down he moved away pretty quick. I didn't even know he was there until I was in the blind and there was a gobble less than 100 yards away. No late gobbling like usual, looks like my season is done. I really like the bow option though hunted 4 weekends in a row, fired 2 arrows, had several other encounters...was fun. Definitely opt for the bow again next year if they offer it

A link to my turkey kill this spring. First bird with a bow. Put on a show and I couldn't let this Jake walk.... Enjoy.
