Re: 2017 Deer Hunting

I've seen three small bucks by my house in the last couple days. One was chasing. Doe's are thick around my house. I see at least 10 everyday going to or from work. Makes me tempted to hunt but this weekend should be great for ducks based on what I saw this morning. I'll probably put in lottery for a doe tag next year to fill the freezer. Its been over 10 years since I deer hunted.

The wide spread snow should make for an increased harvest this year.

Snow map is of this morning.
And up 4" predicted for central MN later today.
Temps are to remain below average this next week per the NWS.

something like 75% of our annual harvest occurs during the 1st three days of the rifle season. With a big bulk of that happening the 1st day. Around here we're forecasted snow switching to rain all day Saturday.... if that's the case alot of alcohol will get drank in cabins. Our numbers might be up but I doubt it'll skyrocket.

If the weather burns off and we have a nice weekend some deer will get knocked down throughout the state.

When I just looked, no rain for the TC area tomorrow.
I saw a buck walking slowing across the road and into my neighbors yard at 2:30 today. A 4 to 6 point, (he was just too far away see smaller tines). It would have been a great day to be out bow hunting.
The Turkeys were out too scrounging and feeding before the snow started.

A dandy buck for sure! Did you stick it or use a bullet?

Thanks guys, shotgun down in SE mn. I haven't had the urge to take one with a gun for some time, but since I didn't have anything worthwhile to chase out at my bowhunting land, I decided going into the season that if something good walked by I would shoot it. A little disappointed my bow season is pretty much over now, I can still take a doe so may go a few more times.

I almost passed this buck up cause I never heard them with the rain, just looked over and there they were 50 yards away it surprised me. I only had a side view and the body was pretty small I didn't really think it was that nice of a deer, but as they got closer I could tell he was pretty decent so let him have it. I fired the only shots this weekend out of 12 guys
