Ice Fishing Reports 16-17

I just got off the phone with a friend of mine, her son is a PS for one of the a ice fishing teams. They were in N Mn last weekend, over 1500 holes drilled by 6 guys on numerous lakes, and they could not find the fish over a 3 day span. And these were lakes that normally they can easily get on the fish.

So I'm not sure if the warm weather pattern this fall has them screwed up or what. But hearing the above was simply jaw dropping.

I do know that guys in IA were on the Perch and 'Gills as I saw the photos the other day.

Water clarity issues. Lots of water running into lakes this Fall. Once they settle, fish will start biting

I'd take dirty water over clear water any day for perch & walleye. Bite window runs longer into the daylight in the morning and picks back up earlier in the afternoon.

I don't usually go locally but the gf wanted to go out. I wanted to take down my game cam so we went to our land and set up on our pond for the hell of it. It's only an acre and about 7' deep. Didn't catch anything in the 45 min we tried, but I've caught bluegills in there in the spring before although it's been a while. Drove across the road to the main lake and caught some small 9" crappies and small bluegills...Which is why I don't typically put in any effort locally but she had fun.
