Winter fishing 18-19

Mon Nov 12, 2018 7:40 pm

So who is gearing up for ice fishing?

The guys are out on small shallow bays in ND and N MN yesterday on 2-4" of ice. With today and tomorrows cold it'll make another inch or 2. Even FF said his brother is fishing in town over the weekend in Williston ND.

My fear is that we get balmy (highs in 30s/40s and lows in 20s) weather - meaning not really cold enough to make ice over the next 3 weeks.

Heard a van went in up in Detroit lakes...not sure why anybody would be attempting to drive out already.

Up in Pequot last 2 days, some of bigger lakes still wide open, but north long looked completely froze over from 371

JRs did not open until last Monday do to the wind opened up some leeds.

Lake Minnetonka is still mostly open water. seton they are fishing though. But the main lakes and Crystal bay were open today.

I figure by weeks end there will be a fair amount of guys walking out on the stuff that froze over a week ago.

Someone and their wheeler went through big kandi this morning.

Ps I hear the bite is hot for perch there. That lake produces the true humpbacks.
