Years back in my portable 4 x 7 while fishing for Walleyes on Minnetonka, 1 hole was 3" and 1 was 2" and open water 20' beyond that.
And get this I hear all theis nonstop ice cracking--a freakin small truck drove out on to the ice to check us all out and he could clearly ice the main lake was open water 100' away
There was 4" of good clear ice and he did not break through! I thought for sure he would have gone through! They say God looks after fools, as there is no other reason why that fool did not fall through.
A reilable report from a friend that said he had 12" on Tonka Bay of Lake Mtka last night and that a
vehicle had driven on the ice. That is the beginning of the end as once vehicles start driving around the fishing goes to hell.
