Two state Department of Natural Resources properties on the Vermillion River will open about two miles of new shoreline for the upcoming stream trout fishing opener.
The properties are both near County Road 66 -- one on Blaine Avenue near the border of Rosemount and Farmington across the river's main branch, and the other just west of U.S. 52 on the south branch.
Together, they provide about 11,000 feet of shoreline. The properties also include grassland and wooded areas that will be open for hunting and trapping. Taken together, they cover 114 acres.
The properties cost about $384,000 to acquire. The stream trout season opens April 12.
