I used to hand load in low brass Peter's Blue Magic hulls, 1.5 oz 5 shot lead using 36.2 grains of 571 powder. Funny how I can remember that 35 years later and not not remember stuff from a week ago... :?

Was that 571 the "Herco" powder? Jeez I miss that load

I always used whatever hulls I could find for free. Remember getting my reloading stuff at Herters
in Waseca. That was a long looong time ago. 1970s Maybe?

571 was a Winchester powder. Herco is now made by Alliant, same as Blue Dot, Red Dot, and other Hercules powders.

571 and Blue Dot were my favorites for loading heavy lead. Especially 571.

Yep 16.9 cents per gallon is the cheapest I can remember. Those were days of the "gas wars."
I owned a Olds 442 with a 455 under the hood. If I was careful (never was) got 3MPG but that
car was fast & fun. I still remember the Sat. morning my Mom decided to back my car out of the driveway to go grocery shopping. She hit reverse & peeled rubber down the driveway, across the road, through the neighbors yard & ended up on their front steps.
My Mom was extremely religious & rather shy & Dad said that was the only time he ever heard her
swear

My Dad had the Olds station wagon with that engine. He recently asked me if I knew how fast that car went. 117 when I was young and foolish.

let me off you a little words of wisdom from a great white hunter who has been killin ducks for years...

More swag is equally proportionate to the amount of limits you kill.

Remember when engines were specified in cubic inches. 455 CI is 7.5 L.

on that note we do what we call a "blue shell shoot" hand loaded bismuth for old schoolguns!!! you get 3 shells and who ever finishes the day with the "best" limit wins

I remember a 30 day season and not being able to shoot cans.
