Rain

Tue Sep 19, 2017 7:47 am

I hate rain in the forecast.

I've had some decent hunts in rain, but my current spots aren't ideal.

Light rain I can deal with. Pouring rain sucks.

May have to make some adjustments to the boat blind..... which I still have to make.

Damn.

Early in the week forecast was hot/sunny/windy. Now? Rain.

I hate rain in the forecast.

I'd rather have rain than hot/sunny when hunting in my camo speedo.

I used to feel that way.

But now, some point after I hit 45, I can take most elements in stride better than rain. For some reason, being wet is worse than cold, and I have gained anxiety when it comes to cold and wet. I can't ever seem to shake it off once I'm soaked to the bone.

Might be too many bivouacs in the Army, or that I'm responsible for my family's comfort when camping. Might be a general "citified" state. Or, I'm just getting old.

Got a call from my buddy this morning. Plan is to get out early, get spots. I'm bringing my stove and propane coffee pot. Will need a dry shelter, wind at the back won't be a problem. Dry. Hot food will be good and no problems with layers. Warm.

Until the decoys: plop, plop. And the birds: boom, boom. Cold. Wet.

Might be a day for a flask and a post hunt "bump". Dry. Warm.

I hate hunting in the rain, always have. I've never had even good hunting in the poring rain. Birds seems super skiddish in the rain as well. I'll probably go out unless it's thundering, F' that.

If we get pouring rain, thunder, lightening, this could very quickly become Drunk Opener.

I guess it all depends on where you will be hunting. The cities now only shows a 20% chance of rain for Saturday but Morris shows 90% Saturday and 70% on Sunday. Marshall shows 80% for both days. I only wonder where Fowler will be hunting because my guess is he will be out no matter what!
