But man oh man 2 3/4" #5 lead was a killer load. You could reach out & touch em with those shells.

I used to hand load in low brass Peter's Blue Magic hulls, 1.5 oz 5 shot lead using 36.2 grains of 571 powder. Funny how I can remember that 35 years later and not not remember stuff from a week ago...

I always used whatever hulls I could find for free. Remember getting my reloading stuff at Herters
in Waseca. That was a long looong time ago. 1970s Maybe?

Yep 16.9 cents per gallon is the cheapest I can remember. Those were days of the "gas wars."
I owned a Olds 442 with a 455 under the hood. If I was careful (never was) got 3MPG but that
car was fast & fun. I still remember the Sat. morning my Mom decided to back my car out of the driveway to go grocery shopping. She hit reverse & peeled rubber down the driveway, across the road, through the neighbors yard & ended up on their front steps.
My Mom was extremely religious & rather shy & Dad said that was the only time he ever heard her
