Duck hunting wasn't so cool, but you never could get enough.
Ask Al how to successfully nest wood ducks, see you next season.

Mossberg, Browning, and Remington ruled the marshes

The only choke you needed was full.

Herter's, Flambeau, Carrylite, or homemade decoys were the only choices; Goose decoys were few and far between

Camo was a faded brown duck Carhart

Names like Grounds, Belding, Zink, Robertson, Foiles, etc... were unknown

Wool was the only insulation for clothing

You didn't need a hunting "team"To be bad a$$.

Hunting videos were simply men around a campfire swapping hunting stories.

Face paint was for thespians

Decals were on the windows of stores.

You used bread bags over your socks to keep your feet dry in your 10lb sorel boots.

You used your mouth to call in ducks.

There was no drain tile.
Women with whiskers.....that's a bummer

Being able to use lead shot

I used to hand load in low brass Peter's Blue Magic hulls, 1.5 oz 5 shot lead using 36.2 grains of 571 powder. Funny how I can remember that 35 years later and not not remember stuff from a week ago... :?
.

Was that 571 the "Herco" powder? Jeez I miss that load

I always used whatever hulls I could find for free. Remember getting my reloading stuff at Herters
in Waseca. That was a long looong time ago. 1970s Maybe?

Yep 16.9 cents per gallon is the cheapest I can remember. Those were days of the "gas wars."
I owned a Olds 442 with a 455 under the hood. If I was careful (never was) got 3MPG but that
car was fast & fun. I still remember the Sat. morning my Mom decided to back my car out of the driveway to go grocery shopping. She hit reverse & peeled rubber down the driveway, across the road, through the neighbors yard & ended up on their front steps.
My Mom was extremely religious & rather shy & Dad said that was the only time he ever heard her
swear
