See, now they can be seen and wouldn't be silhouetted......they're in the shadow of the island....just about hit the sunlight. ;)

P.S. I'm going to shift the sun back to the left more to reflect the new angle better.

I know that spot. ;)

Ever do work with pastels? The last two paintings remind me of pastel work. They make for good sunset pieces.

Shush! Keep it under your hat...don't want the secret getting out. :D

I've never done anything with pastels.....just acrylic on canvas. I wish I could get my hands on some decent oil paints but they're pretty spendy I think.

I'm not sure what the difference is between acrylic and water color, because lots of times I think my technique is basically water color. I water down the acrylic quite a bit when doing lots of stuff....blending, fine detail, etc.

I'm still trying to get this down before trying a different medium. My little brother is quite with color pencils and mixes in some use of pastels. It was kind of funny....he started randomly drawing as a past time the same time I started painting, with neither knowing at the time the other was doing it. I'll say this....pencils/pastels would be a lot harder than paints I'm betting. If I screw something up I can go back and just paint over it. With pencils/pastels if you screw something up....especially by going too dark....you can't come back and go over it to lighten it up. With paints you can.

I'm did both of these last. The ringbill was me just using extra paint that I would've wasted...cause once out of the tube it's not going back in. The ringbill was extra blue in the background, then the bird itself was extra (oversqueeze served?) Black and White. Three colors is all...and then I took the liberty of actually choosing to use some paint for it and used a little yellow from the cap for the eye. Otherwise three colors, no reference, and thing was nothing more than a growing black dot as I kept using too much black for this or that, until finally thinking I could make a ringneck out of the black blob.

That one is done but this one I'm going to spend a fair amount more time on it to clean it up and add detail. It's of a Dakota County hay farmer's place. He's the only farmer I've ever met that says he's a hay farmer. Cool guy.
