I really dislike shooting fawns kinda like keeping 8” perch… but fawns are tasty and easy to throw in the pickup box by myself and even hang up in the tree myself so there are some perks.

Just like 8” perch…. It’d be nice to have a bucketfull though…

If it’s a meat hunt I don’t mind shooting fawns, and I’ve targeted the fawn instead of the doe even. I just feel kind of bad because I feel like they are so dumb sometimes and my skill as a hunter at this stage of my life is superior to their survival skills at that point in their life. It’s like beating up on white belts in the gym when I could be choosing to roll with a more advanced opponent.

I did kill a fawn this past fall. Didn’t feel great about it. It was very small, but that’s fine because I don’t need a ton of meat. I really don’t enjoy violence and mayhem the way I did when I was younger, and I really made a mess of that poor thing (only meat loss was the heart thankfully). Her suffering was short at least.

Sweet! I want to head somewhere warm this winter. I'm good through new years but that Jan/Feb stretch brutal.

Had a big doe at 20 yards tonight was awful tempting...if nothing else to practice a shot left handed. But with that big buck still around didn't want to disturb the woods too much... trying to get my dad to go out for muzzleloader and try to get that big buck. Or get it myself lol. Probably hit it pretty hard til temps drop again middle of next week and it'll probably be over out there
