From what I understand is it going a good deal faster than steal. In the good ol days it was mostly unheard of to have a load going more than 1200-1250 with lead.
These high velocity lead and tungsten/bismuth loads that have come out is because most guys heads tells them its to slow and they will miss everything.
I bought my dad some of them hevi shot/Remington loads when they first came out and I finally got him to use them last year on geese. Now he's pissed that they don't make it anymore, lol.
With hevishot ive,put less lead on geese at 70 than at 30 with,steel. (Only ever shoot that far when using hevi and I'm bored)

My concern with a faster bismuth is that also means higher barrels pressures too, which could be a problem with the old softer metal in the barrels of old guns, especially European guns.
