Its still 85 in Shoreview as I sit in my house. It is going to be 88 here tomorrow and I will be coaching soccer. I am a late october and november type hunter anyway so I am not to upset about missing tomorrow for the kids soccer. I guess since I am over 40 now the early teal and woodies just do not get me all that excited anymore.

And just think there are plenty of guys who sleep in their boats to get a spot of open. Sounds like a miserable experience in this weather.

Good luck to those that go tomorrow and bring bug spray!

Well it pretty much sucked for us but I didn't expect much. I could have shot a couple times but was trying to make sure the GF could get a crack...we let 1 volley out about 8:15 at some wood ducks. Maybe 16 wood ducks got out of the pond at sunup, saw very few ducks flying after that. 4 blue wings, 1 mallard, rest were wood ducks. Got awfully quiet by 7:15 around us. Was surprised the first shot we heard was only 3 min before legal

On the way out this morning a narly lightning storm had me concerned but luckily it slid south just far enough away to not worry about getting zapped. My buddy and I had our birds by about 715 and the rain came just as we started picking up. Overall stayed pretty dry tho.

Put on a lot of miles scouting in the last week and there is a fraction of the ducks there usually is. Lots of geese tho.

Well they chit the bed on the forecast for here. Nw wind when calling for damn near calm winds, temps why cooler than calling for.

The bluewings showed up and saved us from missing woodies in a woody hole. Actually surprised by amount of bluewings seen compaired to whats been here the last two weeks. Thinking they blew in on that Nw wind that started up 1/2 hour before shooting time.

Lightning was crazy Saturday morning, no one went out until 8:30... Then got about 3" of rain overnight last night that nearly swamped the boats so we almost missed legal due bailing boats.

Only ducks shot were BWT both days. Not a typical opener by a long shot..... but memorable.

Hunted near Brandon. 5 guys Sat and 3 Sun. Total for weekend was a mallard Sat and a BWT Sunday. Very few birds in air. Could have spilt a box of shells between us and still had plenty left over.

Saturday started out at 3:15 am to find some pantsless dude taking a leak next to one of the trucks in my driveway....yes, I said pantsless. No shoes/socks either.

Lack of Wild Rice? Or do you think it may be something else?

Those areas in MN, SD and ND with 5"+ rains there should be sheet water and better water conditions which should attract the ducks
