Here's a tip, drink more.

It will help either escalate the situation by you getting madder for something that is in no way your fault, leading to an actual face to face confrontation. Then you can tell your story to a judge, I'm sure he'd be very sympathetic to your feelings about the situation and the law. Or you can just pass out and not worry about anything.

Oh yah next weekend when you have 16 campers up there call the cops on the guy if he is a prick again about not worrying about a kid he had no clue about. If that don't work, offer to buy him out.

If that don't work try and change the county statute, that sounds easy enough.

Wonder why they made it a statute at all?

Quickest way to seriously stop worrying about a situation like this is to realize from the sounds of it who was really in the wrong.

Wait until you want to build. You're f'ed

Here's the scale you need to learn:
City, Township, County... figure out who runs what where you are at.
Lake Association, Watershed District, DNR.... lake association can't make much for enforceable rules, but figure the whole board is made up of guys like your neighbor

Key items: set-back from water ways, road right of ways, etc; minimum distances from property lines on sides and back; proportional amount of storage to living space; sewage requirements; buffer strip requirements; % or sq ft impervious hardscape limitations; excavation/soil plan (where do you put it, where does it go); tree removal plan approval; bank stabilization requirements; storm runoff management plan; storm water holding pond requirements; "finished structure" definitions (i.e. does an elevated deck lakeside count into minimum set-backs, does a flat concrete patio?)

GOB built before all that crap. The day you sink a shovel extra camper warnings will feel like the Good Ol' Days....

That's why you hire someone to do all that. It's there job not mine. I save lives someone else builds the house.

Really you still think he had no clue about the medical emergency, the guys bedroom window is 175 ft from where the incident happened. I already told you he turned his outside lights on to see what was going on.

That's cool. Certain the County will support your suit against your contractor after they screw it up. If you are indeed a wise man, you will not do a lowest bid scenario and go design/build. Figure it will cost 25%+ more, but it will likely keep you out of City Hall planning meetings asking for variance and/or forgiveness.

Unlike saving lives, where market rates aren't negotiated between the almost dead and the one that makes them not almost dead~ negotiated construction deals are pretty much a trip to the casino: the odds aren't in your favor.

Good luck.

Your responses tell people a lot. It shines a light on what he has probably been dealing with. And that light shows a lot more than you think by your responses. There are little tells into a persons ability to not only take responsibility for their actions but also see a situation like this from someone else's point of view other than their own, even when it is against what they are "feeling". Objectivity can go a long way. It's like dealing with a woman's 5 day blood streak, you weather the tide and realize she's bleeding like a stuck pig from her crack. And it's not the time to tell her you just bought a pair of sleds, are looking to upgrade the boat, want to look into a substantially bigger boob job for her and you've always thought her sister was just as hot as her best friend.

This guy had no clue what the "medical emergency" was I'd bet. For all he knew it could of been a drunk falling and hitting his head. Did anyone go over and tell the guy what was going on after he turned his light on to diffuse what already sounds like a very tumultuous relationship? No one here really knows the ins and outs of what's going on with this other than what your telling. And that side has one foot in the grave and the other on a greased up banana peel dipped in pig poop. This seems based off the frustration of a bad incident that happened to a child. That was not the guys fault and I'd bet he is taking the brunt of the anxiety from that, transference.

Lots o luck with it. And if it doesn't work out I'm sure it was all the guys fault for being such a DB for informing you that you are willfully braking the one camper statute. But that's his fault for pointing that out, not yours for actually knowing about it. Then clearly, openly not only admitting you are braking that rule but you are continuing to brake it and will continue too.

That seems pretty cut and dry, or am I still misunderstanding?

I would say duck hunt in front of his cabin this fall, but he sounds like the type that would never allow emergent aquatic vegetation along his shore.

3 ems vehicles 3! So instead of being human concerned for his neighbor he writes me saying wtf are you doing. Is this a response you would expect from anyone with half a heart? I guess maybe you would. And when do u think i had the time to go talk to him. Sometime inbetween calling 911 and administering the life saving drug? Or maybe ehile we were supporting her airway or perhaps while we were yrying to calm her twin sisyer and her older brother down. Or perhaps when we were trying to get the other kid to sleep that had woken during the emergency. The only reason this child is still alive is because i was breaking the law and i had my friends up there with 4 CRNA's and a peds icu nurse. I deal with airways everyday its my job but thats in a controlled environment with airway supplies medications and oxygen. Had this emergency happened anywhere else say at there house with no epi pen no anesthesia team i would be going to her funeral today.
