That's a big night.

Lack of Wild Rice? Or do you think it may be something else?

No rice is as thick as I have even seen it. Too thick to hunt a lot of spots. Guessing a poor hatch. Ringers haven't moved in good yet either and typically a lot have by opener.

Rain can quit now, over 6 inches last night and still raining. Good for the duck hunter not for the farmer.

I agree re: The Farmer. This needs to stop. Would not be surprised at crop loss due to field wash out.

For the Duck Hunter: I'm less optimistic this is helpful. If the water sticks around to provide fresh shallow wetlands next spring, where once would be cattail borders, etc. Maybe we come out good. I tend to be a bigger fan of drought from a long term habitat perspective. Too many bodies having too much water will not be good in subsequent years.

Maybe if we had a developed moist soil management plan? LOL

SW MN should have standing water all over the place, remember they had big rains a month ago too. But central Mn and into E central should have standing water too.

I ended up with 2.3", but just W and N of me it was much more as not raining here and major thunderstorms just 20 miles from me

Lots of standing water will attract ducks, but it also spreads them out too, so it can actually be a lot slower hunting unless you find a decent concentration of them.

As for the farmers - tens of millions will be lost due to they can not harvest being so muddy.

Which will also effect the Deer and Pheasant hunters as the crops will likely be delayed harvesting, and it may not even happen is in some locales as it may be winter or spring before they can get in.

I don't expect the water to stay all that long, everything around here is pattern tiled so i will just enjoy the next week or 2 of hunting some flooded corn!

To bad we have to stop hunting for 2 weeks. I'm sure there will be birds using it. To bad since I can see the field from my couch.
