Several states are at record numbers as we speak and case counts are still growing. Deaths lag a positive test result by about 2 weeks. Additionally, daily new case counts worldwide are higher than at any point and continue to rise daily.

You could really use a course in statistics 101. Or you can continue to listen to the news that cherry pick the stats that help to spread their fear agenda and make this sound much worse than it is. Your choice I guess.

Thanks for the humor on this Tuesday. I’ll use data from state/national/international public health departments instead of some dude with a Twitter account. The increase in testing does not account for the increased percentage of positive tests which indicates that indeed several states are spiking. As noted previously, deaths lag positive test results (as do hospitalizations, which I neglected to note previously).

And as far as masks, those who believe they have no effect are now on the wrong side of science. Literally every day new studies are being released by well respected scientists/universities/groups that are showing their efficacy. It’s sad that people are so selfish that they can’t do something so simple as wearing a mask to help knock this virus out. The irony is thick though that the same people who complain about their “rights” are those who refuse to wear masks and ultimately prolong the restrictions currently in place which they are so angry about. Nobody has an issue with wearing a shirt or shoes into a business, but heaven forbid they have to wear a mask in these same places for the next few months. I’ve yet to see anyone pass out or not make it out of Menards alive where masks are required.

As for masks I'll just go off what Dr. Osterholm says. But I'm sure he's full of $hit and just a doctor.

What broke me was when everyone called the restriction protestors the most selfish people in the world, but then the police protests happened and it was crickets out of all those same people calling out the restriction protestors.

So all the people who die from the virus being spread due to the police protests are just collateral damage??

I’ve just lost faith in humans to do anything other than what they find pleasurable in the next 5 minutes. I’m falling back into misanthropy.

Here is what the CDC talks about with comorbidity and covid. Only 7% of all the deaths in the US were from covid alone. Yes 7% that a little over 7,000 deaths this year are Covid alone. This is like the common cold. The media has hyped this us to make you believe it's a death sentence.

Nope. But I remember people saying restriction protestors shouldn’t receive treatment if they end up getting corona. Because that’s how medicine should work. Smh.

That number sounds plausible. Most studies/public heath agencies tend to agree on a 90%-95% comorbidity rate. What is being glossed over in that value though is that roughly 60% of the adult population in the US has one of the those three main comorbidities (hypertension, diabetes, obesity) associated with COVID-19 death. That’s essentially like playing Russian Roulette with 125+ million American lives. It’s disingenuous to state that because COVID-19 alone has killed a few thousand people that roughly 38% of the entire population of the US is not at increased risk of dying from the virus.

I would bet several on this forum fall into one of three buckets noted. Fortunately, I’m not one of them. But, having moderate asthma (since I was 2) my risk of serious Illness due to COVID-19 is 48% higher than that of a healthy person according to a recent study.
