We need drought.

We’ve had too much water for too long.

I’m halfway through planting 150,000 trees, so I’d like rain on them but otherwise I’m pro-drought

Dayyum! 150k trees! For personal or for work? And for what purpose?

I agree we need drought. Getting this rain soon will be nice though. Lots of stuff is stalled out or dying before it really got going. Stuff should be popping next week.

I'm interested about the trees as well...if personally, what kind where you got them from etc. Eventually if I ever build a house on my 45 acres I'd like to reclaim a lot of the farmland plant a bunch of trees and crp

Work. We cut the trees, we plant new ones.

Jackpine, Norway Pine, white spruce, white pine.

We’re doing 290k this year, 360k next year... and that’s not even a lot compared to some land managers. My district has the most planting so I get to coordinate it.

I’ve been doing natural regeneration forestry for a long time but large scale planting is still newish to me.

From a commercial perspective, we plant 800-1000 trees per acre and by year 30 about half will have died out. Final harvest might only be 150 trees per acre.

Nice rain last night will really help central MN. Looks like ND got some spotty heavy rain last night. It's too late probably for hatched ducks this year, maybe for brood survival this might help.

The pond in the back yard went up over night about 8".

The drought in ND is now at exceptional status for the center of the state.

Meanwhile out East of ND, AKA "Here," things get drier as well....points to h2ofwlr on this falling in line with his prediction to a "T."

Things can change a lot week to week so stay tuned.....
