Sure is. Usually it’s when the ice takes hold but it was still wide open because it was big water but they still all boogied out.

Question for the weekend is Goldie’s or ice fishing. Have not seen the Goldie’s or buffies like we usually do last couple years.

Yesterday I hunted up by Fergus Falls saw thousands of migrating geese into town! Struggled to break them down until the afternoon and then they were hungry and wanted to feed! Having large flocks of high flying geese break down into the spread to 15 yards was incredible. Hopefully get on some more birds these weekend.

Looks like I had a decent one running around my property during gun season, first pic was first Saturday of gun season second pic was 2,nd Saturday...so he survived first week anyway. Hopefully he made it and all the deer don't leave my property for winter quite yet, but forecast is not gonna help that cause

This one saw me walking in, waited for me to pass, and then back tracked me....bucks are smart.

They really are man. Several years ago walked into my stand on the edge of our cattail swamp. I move so slowly and stealth when I bow hunt people would probably call Mr crazy but it really does work. Anyways, get to my stand, tie the bow on the rope to pull up, etc. Soon as I get both feet on pegs off the ground an 8 pt jumps outta his bed 15 yards away. I was quiet enough to get that close, but he was smart enough to wait til there was nothing I could do about it. Pretty crazy to me

My brother once missed a Booner....legit....I'd seen the deer. He had a chip shot broadside at a hundred with his .30-06, pulled the trigger, and dropped it in the CRP. He walks up to go get it and the thing jumps out of the grass and takes off. He never found any blood and since he's literally the most horrendous shot with a rifle I'm very confident he missed the deer cleanly. The deer was smart enough to drop straight down after the shot, lay low, wait until my brother got to him, and then book out of there with him being able to get his gun up fast enough to get off another shot.......

.....that deer didn't get away.....it had a winning strategy.....he used complex thought processes. Bucks are unbelievably smart.....look how big their brains are....not a dumb animal.
