My spots always seem to be better late season spoony spots. Too many teal still around. They fly so fast I can never Identify them until they're dead in hand.

I have shot ducks and didn't know what they were for sure when they were lying in the bottom of the boat. Blue bill, ring bill, no clue the difference even in hand. Also what can work against a ninja is the strategy of not picking up any ducks until you are done shooting for the day. That way you don't mess up your hide getting in and out. Now that there is a secret of the pros.

My best spoonbill hunts are always just before freeze up, and it is almost all hens. I don't shoot many before then.
