Turkeys

Just curious if anyone has had them shy away from blinds before. I never used one til 2 years ago in Wisconsin, put it in an open alfalfa field and a tom ran right up to it. Usually I just sit against a tree.

So I bought one Thursday for me and the gf. This morning I had 3 toms and a hen appear 80 yards away and they walked off right away. Then had a 45 min calling marathon with another one got him to appear at 60 yards and he walked off right away. What gives?

Had a bearded hen come right in, then just had another tom do the same exact thing...sees the blind walks away. Guess I'm going back to the ground

The one thing I really watch for is my silhouette, shutting windows behind me where the birds are, wearing only black is a little overkill IMO mostly cause I like to run and gun on birds that piss me off so I'm dressed in full camo. Those bastards can pick out a lot of abnormalities in the field too, like being too close to a window. I also believe location has a lot to do with it, birds where I hunt see anything different in the field and they are cautious and in other locations it seems they could care less what is there

Was really frustrating. I put it further into the trees and think I will leave the mesh up and just shoot through it if I get a chance. Or if its nice I will just ground it but tomorrow don't sound nice

Not a fan of blinds. If you use one make sure you brush it in real good.

Ya maybe I just had false impressions. Like I said when I hunted in Wisconsin we literally had blinds in the middle of alfalfa fields and birds came right up to them. I prefer ground hunting only reason I got a blind was to sit next to the gf to help her get a bird

Yeah, a buddy of mine does that and seems to get a bird every year, I'll put one by some strutting grounds and sit in there for a mid-day spot, other than that in the mornings I'm generally trying to get close to a roosted bird.

What do you need a blind for?

Still like that pic!

I grounded it this morning but they either aren't roosting in the same woods daily or the weather is screwing with them. Heard none saw none. It was cold
