Early goose season

Thu Sep 01, 2016 12:41 pm

Well it looks like the weather will cooperate - well at least it will not be 95 this weekend and there will be a decent south winds with 70-80 high temps. So a 4 out of 5 stars for weather for this weekend. And word to the wise - take along plenty of bug dope with you as you'll need it!

So are you heading out?

Yup, not super excited at least not like when I was 20. I guess the field had 300 in it a week ago. They usually pull a disappearing act about now is the problem. Weather looks good with a nice wind and coolish temps. It can be 90 with zero wind. Bugs shouldn't be as bad with the wind 20-30 out west.

Can't kill shit typing on the interwebs. Have a couple of fields we have permission for holding geese and I'm excited to go shoot them. Doves died fast and plentifully this morning as well, so excited to shoot my 45 for the weekend of those too.

I have to admit that the geese have not been flying too much at all around here. Like in I saw only 1 flock of 12 flying last week. It's kind of strange actually, it's almost like it is the 2nd week of Aug for activity.

If they was activity like the 2nd week in August during the September season I'd actually try to go again.

Might be going. Our usual field is gone and we might have to split into 2 small groups and run traffic, neither field will be fire like our usual one

Wasn't planning to hunt it this year but my buddy got permission to a field holding a couple hundred. Never field hunted close to home so I'm looking forward to it. Won't be going out till Monday morning when my buddy is back in town.

Got into a bunch Saturday and rained/lightning out this morning. Mosquitoes weren't bad at all.
