Silent CRIPPLEFEST?

Sun Sep 11, 2016 7:44 am

Went for a drive yesterday morning and didn't see or hear a single youth day group. Checked numerous good, easy spots and didn't even see fresh tire tracks.

Did anyone go?

I was dove hunting yesterday morning and even with a Hoodie on and I froze balls. So I can see why some didn't go or stay out.

Nephew went out. Only group in an otherwise busier WPA.

Report: water is adult hip deep where the cattails start. Some birds around (south if Gimp), but wading boots are now kayak/canoe in SW

It's crazy how much water we have around here.

What are you talking about Willis? (scratching my head in bewilderment)

As yesterday was a BEAUTIFUL day for waterfowl hunting.

Hunted a pond this morning. Last year I could walk across and got to about 5" below top of my waders at the deepest. Today I got about 10 yards off shore and almost went over the waders. Was another 60 yards across the pond yet. Thankfully the wind was strong enough to push the geese to the other side to pick up as I did not have a boat or dog.

I was outside, duh... it was low 50s with a bit of wind and got to about 70 for the high. it was a nice morning to be outside. Sure as heck beats 80s for highs. And if you got cold at 50, WTH do you do when it gets 20 out?

Now tomorrow morning, that maybe a bit cool out. Basically Morris to Cambridge and North of that line has scattered frost or hard frost with mid to low 30s predicted. That'll kick the teal in their butt! LOL.

Well I was sitting in an open field, low 50 's at sunrise, wind was about 15 mph and everything was soaked with dew so yes it felt cold as hell with thin cotton pants, a t shit and a Hoodie. Even my heavy set friend that is normally just wearing a sweatshirt most the season was complaining about being cold.

So yes I believe that most young kids would have been to cold to go or stay out long.
