I see a lot of swans while hunting in ottertail county. I've always laughed at story's of guys accidentally shooting swans, how could you accidentally shoot a 40 pound snow white bird. I have had times in the past where I was sure I had geese coming in but around 70 yards or so I realized they were swans. I'm not defending guys who accidentally shoot swans,(even though I would be in favor of a swan season). Its interesting to me how big white swans look like dark geese, in the right light, at least to me (I'm very color blind). As I stated I'm in favor of a mn swan season, does anyone know who the right person in the DNR would be to contact to support my opinion of having a swan season? I'm guessing a swan season would most likely never happen in mn, but I never thought we would have a dove season either.

Steve Cordts.

I doubt it'd ever happen because on the Trumepter Swans (endangered species) that are raised in MN.

But over the next few years, I bet there may be a limited Sandhill crane season in Southern MN,

Can you tell which is a Trumpeter and which is a Tundra swan?

I had four fly by my kitchen window this afternoon in Owatonna. I thought they would have all been out of here by now.

I sometimes see hundreds at a time in east central MN. I would think they would make a stop once in a while south in Rochester.

Why would it matter that we raise trumpeter swans here? I would think North Dakota raises more than us and you can still hunt Tundras.

Aren't there a bunch that winter in Grand Rapids?

Or maybe only leave for a few weeks?
