So how do you rate the 2017 MN duck season?

Well guys lets hear it on the MN (not other state or Canada) duck season. The poll is anonymous.

Perhaps share some highlights or lowlights of your season.

Did you hunt this year Al? If so how did it go?

It was a very good MN season for me. Mainly diver shoots. The season got cut a little short up north and didn't have the ambition to travel south.

One of the best, opener was very good, the 2nd opener down here was also very good as well, lot's nice ringbills, then we had alot of rain and was blessed with a flooded cornfield for about 3 weekends, the deer opener weekend was great with lot's of divers around, and we got into some nice late season mallards as well, it was a good year and I hunted more this year as well.......

Technically, I went hunting.

Ton of rain, as in next year I'm installing a bilge pump so I never have to bail again.

The Ford Fusion: works great for walk in locations, but anything needed a boat or kayak is out. If I can get a hitch put on or pick up a vehicle better for hunting I'll be more mobile next year. Stuck this year as a matter of convenience.

The closest I ever saw to a grand passage was this year. The ducks and geese over deer hunting we're phenomenal, and I was too stupid to stop chasing deer.

Pretty sucky for me. Nobody thought the weather in October sucked?

F the super early opener. Gimme a teal season and Open the real season around Oct 1. A guy shouldn't have to travel to hunt ducks Thanksgiving weekend.

Mostly, I just didn't have the "time" or ambition to hunt like I want to. Job and young kids have taken their toll, but hopefully by next fall I'll at least be sleeping for 6-8 hours straight.

You must have scored a sweet lease like you were talking about before the season?

I didn't get out much this season, mostly because the weather sucked on the days I could go. On the days I did get out (evening hunts) it was average. I didn't see as many ducks on the farm as usual all season. Didn't flush a single one out of the small river running through our place.

Probably least amount of duck hunting I've done in 20 years of duck hunting, the few times I got out was pretty bad. No one to blame but myself

No, I had a sweet set up and the rug was pull out from me the Thursday before opener. The weather was key this fall I think, There was a lull in the middle part of October but from Halloween on it really help moved birds down from Canada.
