96 F150 with 289,000 its on its death bed. Engine runs fine but the rust within the suspenssion and brake system makes it not worth putting any money into it. :-(

2012 chevy 1500 with 3.73 .... be careful because I was looking at GMC and they all come with 3.07's hence the MPG. I do like my truck and hope this one is a 10 year driver.... time will tell.

2011 Ford F150 crew cab fx4 with eco boost.

I don't put a ton of money into adding things to my truck cause I put too many miles on. Already 63,000 miles. But, it is programmed and is around 400 horse and almost 500 ft lbs at the wheels. Truck was pretty quick stock but now its a riot to drive and tow with. I blew a shock out this year, so this week I have Bilstein 5100's going on and Goodyear Duratracs. Hope to get rid of Fords crappy intercooler soon and add a good aftermarket one.

I'm not a big fan of that exterior but the interior on those models are as good as it gets. Yeah with 3.07 you can't tow crap I think it's a 6000lb limit?

But in reality, how many people that have 1/2 ton trucks ever tow more than 6,000 lbs? Just saying.

I drive a 1998 Chevy Z71, 239K

I'm not a big car nut but, I thought the 6 or 8 or how ever many speed tranny kinda compensated for the gearing???

oh and a 2008 silverado 1500.

1998 Dodge Ram Express 4X4, Hemi powered with 198,000, Good mileage on the highway @ 65+mph, but a lot less in lower speed areas or in 4WD. It will pull a stuck tank out of a Louisiana bayou!

as I was told b a co-worker who builds pull-en trucks.... both trucks having the 6 speed tranny, with the 3.07 rear end not trailer at 55 you would turn 1,400 rpm and at 65 turn around 1,800 rpm... take 5-700 rpm off that with a trailer on flat land and you will down shift 2 gears to pass or climb a hill.

That said it was all based on math and not real #'s.....

It's all about torque, that's why they can use the same engine/tranny setup with a different gear ratio. The higher ratio offers more torque, therefor allowing you more start off power to let you pull heavier loads.
