Polaris Ranger 500 vs 570

Thu Feb 14, 2019 3:18 pm

I'm debating on which one to buy. Both appear to be good machines for my intended purpose with the only difference being the engine size. EPS is only available on the 570 as well.

Anyone have an opinion?

Is EPS really necessary?

If you do any plowing of snow then get the power steering. My ex and I got an 800 and I wish I got one with power steering. Good arm workout.

Always saw power steering as just another thing to break, especially on a machine that sees any abuse. Got my 800 sportsman because it was the largest engine without it. We have an 800 ranger at the cabin and never saw a need for power steering on it, and it's one of the long 4 person ones

The old mans 700 grizzly has eps and it’s sweet when 4x4 is locked in making it harder to turn.

My older Polaris 500 doesn't have EPS and my dad's 850 does. I would never buy one without. Ours are ATVs but I assume it would hold true for Rangers as well.

Get the power steering for sure. I used to be in the exact camp as Maplelake and not get EPS just to keep it simple. On four wheelers still kinda lean that way but big machines like UTV's I would really, really, try to talk you into it.

Free advice - Ranger's are nice but I recently went to Honda Pioneer 1000-5. Great machine without a cvt transmission. Also you can have a dump box and 5 seat without being the size of a semi truck. Tracks are being installed today which if you ever put tracks on you need EPS.

If you have any thoughts about adding tracks someday, power steering. Otherwise... meh

What's your intended purpose?

We have miles of fencing and having power steering to be able to drive one handed and use the other hand to untangle shorts is an absolute must in my opinion. I know you're not doing that but if you are doing anything similar keep that in mind.
