Re: Eco Boost owners, F-150?

i have a2018 2.6liter lariat. i get 20-21 mpg when i drive 60mph and 18 when im cruising at 70-80 on interestat. city driving is 18.

thing is too light in the winter. so i carry 300-400lbs of salt in the back.

issues: had it in for 4 different recalls.

radiator leaked a year after having it, warranty covered it

had a to get a new strut put in. the one i had started to make a creaking sound every time i got out of it. I only weigh 190lbs and my wife weighs 125lbs. and have never taken it across rough terrain...ie corn stubble

now all of it was under warranty. when my warranty is up im probably going to get another Ford and trade this one in. Simply for the fact that my nephew works at the ford and gets me in and taken care of right away when issues come up.

towing wise. i pull my 21' pontoon just fine with it twice a year. get 10mpg.

my truck before that was an 07 Titan. thing was solid up to 170k. then regular things started going out on it. U joints, seals etc. i still own it. its my beater truck for driving around to my hunting spots.

So, the power conversion from pedal to a acceleration/torque is good? Looking at the numbers between the 2.7 and 3.5 economists, the torque looks like larger difference 9k lbs towing vs 12.5k lbs

Reason I ask, found a decent price on a 2.7 2017.... high miles so it did in the other range, but everything I drive is high miles

They really are pretty fun and quick for trucks. I don't beat on it anymore given the mileage it's asking for a catastrophic failure. But I have an aftermarket programmer and intercooler, which added around 80 hp and 150 torque. That in conjunction with taking off stupid factory programmed turbo lag and drive by wire lag...they get pretty fun

id say if you are looking for torque get a diesel.

do you pull a lot?

the boosters give you some good power and take off. i have a 16' featherlite enclosed trailer and the ford pulls it the same as my v8 titan at the same age.

it has 5 different modes you can put it in.

sport, tow, wet/snow, eco and normal

eco mode essentially turns the boosters off.

My towing is boat and people.

I tend to be an "offensive" driver, preferring acceleration over braking to avoid situations. Spend too much time on interstate/highway where brakes are used to often and create MORE problems than the one they're trying to avoid.

I also desire to get away from stupid people quickly.

If the 2.7 can be effective in that loosened eye 6k-7k lbs, works for me.

Nice.

Might be just the ticket to get the wife on board with a full size truck. She's got the "real" job and my current contract is likely wrapping up just in time for fall :-)

Yeah, looking at used and see 2019 clearance is starting. Trying to find a long box in inventory looks like a 2x b!tch, though.
