WW has many put and take rainbows, I think the hatchery is just past Elba. I fly fish there some, in the park etc. I mostly fish Western Wisco, Rush/Kinni etc. Those area all wild browns and brooks, smaller fish and totally wild. I never keep wild fish, those guys too cool I think. Keep all the rainbows from WW as you want, release the browns/brooks.

You guys ever make it up to fish the Great Lakes or the tributaries for trout? Those streamers are babies compared to the lake run trout. I used to fish them in the inland streams and got kinda ruined the first time I hooked in to a big steal head.

The run is on in the brule and other wi rivers. My buddies got several over 25 inches last weekend. The north shore is just getting started.

Personally I’m not a big fan of fishing them in streams. Couldn’t even tell you why. Just doesn’t tickle the pickle as much as other fishing. I’ll be out chasing them again this weekend in the boat trolling, casting or jigging for them.

Should have trolled. It’s easy!

Did you get shamed for being there with out of state plates? I’m seriously considering asking my buddy for his wi plates for fishing trips this spring. Put them on when we are close to the access. The access I plan to launch out of had nasty notes left on all the trucks with out of state plates last weekend. Knowing some of the folks from that I area I wouldn’t be surprised if they take it to the next level and start vandalizing vehicles and trailers.

Small bright original raps is all I use. Just make sure to do that rapala loop knot for them or you won't get the fish like you should.

Try a jointed scatter rap. The do the headlock walk like a mofo. Deadly bait for trouts.

I’ve never figured out why socialized put n take fishing is ok

But socialized put n take pheasants or mallards is frowned upon.
