Admittedly armchair quarterback here but my buddy never taps on the first warmup. False spring.

Might be time down south but I’m sure we’ll get another solid cold snap here.

Hope I’m wrong though, I’d be more than happy to have early spring!

Looking a couple posts back... I’d recommend boiling over propane for consistency. There’s plenty of stories of burning a whole batch over fire. I’ve had plenty that was... scorchy and/or smokey.... and it ain’t my cup of tea.

Friend of mine in central WI started collecting last Sunday.

Thanks...we'll see. Dad wants me to go up this weekend was kinda hoping to wait another week to hope they are running and slam the perch in the mud flats at the same time. Try to go multiple times maybe we'll see

My buddy just tapped 4.5 gallons. Ended up with 1.5 cups lol. I think he thought he was gonna get more but he said he tastes good at least.

Taps come tomorrow. I think we'll try and go to the cabin next weekend if the weather holds decent

me and my 3 brothers tapped 2 weeks ago. 210 taps. flow has been minimal. collected around 200 gallons of sap so far since last tuesday. hopefully this weekend with the sub 32 temps at night it picks up.

we have a smoky lake dauntless evaporator. wood burner. the thing is such an amazing tool to have.

made our sugar shack out of free and recycled wood. not sure how to post pics on here. but its 10x10 shed. got the kids involved. they have been loving it.

we reverse osmose the sap first to bring up the concentration. think we have about 4-5 gallons of syrup.

Wife and I were on little road trip checking camper this weekend and seen couple big pots hooked up to some trees, thinking that's what they were up to anyways, I know absolutely nothing about it.....

My Uncle does it and I have traded some plucked Mallards for a jar or two, it is VERY good......
