Nice work guys

I ended up coming home I didn't like the prospects. Kind of expected, but we got 3 grouse flushes before the tards started driving down all the trails and got some sugar maples marked for spring...hoping to maybe do the syrup next year.so not a total waste

Broke a hole last night hoping the wind would work jt open but she never worked here magic. Decent size hole though, shot 1 mallard.... also had woodcock hanging around, my kid swatted one so we both ended up on the board..... he should have had the mallard too, but he was too slow so I stole the shot from him.... and then said, "be faster next time..." He:s 12. God I love being a dad

Came through Webster/ waubay area this afternoon. Seemed to be a lot of birds around. All the little water is ice. Big lakes are open. A lot of corn in yet and the rest of the stubble is covered in snow.

Any ditch up here with moving water is full of mallards and green wings. Green wings disappeared yesterday. The band I got a couple days ago says they are local ducks.

I was checking traps this morning and looked down from a concrete culvert to see I had a coon in one of my mink sets. When I went down to get it, 3 mallards flew out of the culvert like pigeons out a barn window....flew within 5 feet of me.

That is wild. How big was the culvert?

Heading out this weekend for our annual homer hunt. Just about everything is froze up from fairbanks to.anchorage so there should be a pile of sea ducks I'm homet waiting for our arrival. Time will tell if we can get more then last year. Think 86 was our total in 2 and a half days. Told the guys coming up we could potentially get in to good numbers and they said they are more about knocking off a couple bucket list birds. Should be a great trip.

Did you guys freeze up early in northern mn? I remember when I was going to school in ely we would hunt till the end on the real big lakes up there.
