I chatted with my retired doctor friends again on Wednesday and they had some interesting insights...
They really hope people who have had Covid don’t get in line for a Vaccine. It would be a wasted vaccination.
My rough calculation is that 5% of the MN population has tested positive... they said CDC estimates the actual infection rate could be 8x higher especially in urban areas, 18-35 year olds, nursing homes, etc. probably not in rural areas though. So an optimistic rough estimate could be that 40% of MN has had it.
Sounds like the county they live in will get 1000 vaccines and focus on the nursing homes first... first glance would say that’s foolish, but the rationale is that those people would be most likely to take up the icu beds for the longest duration so they want to prevent them from getting it.
