I got .78" - the most rain at 1 time in over 2 months. I'm still at least 4" short for May/June
Why is being 4" below a bad thing yet being 4" above a good thing? Seriously? Why is above average precipitation valued so much?
From a scientific standpoint, a deviation from the mean represents the same value whether it's a positive or negative move.
I.E. it can't be all doom and gloom when down 4" but all duckies and bunnies when it's up 4" since that represents the same difference away from the mean, and when it comes to the weather......that's all they care about.
If the temp is above or below average? OMG! Rainfall? Same thing....OMG!
4" below average ain't shit....it's in the normal range at a 99% confidence rating of what will happen. Quit looking at it as......an example would be the weather being five degrees below the average high for that date.
That's Normal Weather. It's in the normal weather range for that date. Five degrees below the average is still the "average" weather that can be expected for that date.
