Wyoming?

Sun Oct 30, 2022 5:04 pm

Anyone been to Wyoming big game hunting recently?

Ive got 3 preference points each for antelope, deer and elk for next fall.

Looking for any input or information. Never been there and I’ve never specifically hunted antelope or elk. I did shoot a antelope coincidentally with a combo tag on a deer hunt many year’s ago.

I’m not against making several trips out during each season if need be, I just feel I could use a little inside info on a starting place, hunter density and what not.

Thanks

Hunted WY last fall for cow elk and just got back for mule deer this year. I hunted the bighorns both times.

3 points probably won’t be enough for a general elk tag in the regular draw. We didn’t draw with 3.75 points this year.

You can get a decent enough mule deer tag with 3. I hunted Region R. Shoot me a pm if that area entices you, I could give a few pointers.

I’m not as well versed on antelope. There are probably some ok 3 point units but the creep is getting bad. I’ll have 4 going into next fall but I think I’m going to wait a year or two.

WY had 125k new sportsmen IDs created in the last year. The point creep likely won’t be slowing down any time soon.
