It's the last mass shared cultural experience there is.....is that why you hate sports? Because you hate society? You want to see anything that brings together a significant portion of the populous for a fun, unifying, and positive thing get destroyed? What's your beef with it? It takes away from talking about the weather when making small talk with strangers.....or what???

For me personally I hate it turned political. It used to be just what you described. A way to escape the everyday shit...til they started embracing the every day shit. I guess it still is for some people but...I don't care to make small talk about a bunch of rich pricks pushing causes, taking stands and voicing their opinions. Especially when they are basically forced to do so to be PC. The George Floyd thing was end for me...done.

But I'm becoming an old hermit I'd just rather not talk to people in general
