Mallards

Thu Oct 12, 2023 6:53 pm

I’ve got a few spots holding midday mallards. I can’t kill ‘em in the morning or the evening.

What’s the go to for midday?

I’m ready to roll out there at 8am and set a goose spread with a dozen or so mallard floaters and try it mid day?’. Thoughts?

More mallards? Spinners? Other decoys?

I wouldn't use spinners, especially if they are already going there. 20 years ago, yes, but not now. Good luck!

If you know where they want to be no need for many decoys. Jerk string or one of them duck bidet decoys would help if not much wind. Leave spinners at home. Hide is the biggest thing.

I haven't used them in years on the water. I think they hurt more than they help.
