Freak Accident

Pretty crazy.

My dad's college buddy who we deer hunt with and he rents one of my dad's houses...was walking into a home improvement store today. He walked by a box truck with a lift gate and as he did, lift gate suddenly came down on him. Hit him in the head knocking him to the ground, where it then continued to crush his body

Don't sound too good. Was rushed into emergency surgery for internal bleeding, sounds like his liver was pierced by several broken ribs, aorta damage, obviously head trauma who knows what else my dad only had pieces of info because he got it second hand

What are the odds. Just crazy how suddenly you can be taken out of this world by something so freak in nature. You listen to stories of what they did and used in college and no issues...work in construction 40 yrs without any major accidents

Then you walk into a store and get crushed by a lift gate on a random vehicle in a parking lot

Sounds like he's doing "good"...in intensive care but stable. Underwent several surgeries for internal bleeding, has broken back, 14 rib fractures. Due to the aorta damage his blood pressure was way too high they had to artificially control his blood pumping. Apparently a cardio specialist has a plan to address his heart damage

But...sounds like he's aware what's going on, opens his eyes some and doctors performed cognitive tests and as of now they think his brain is probably ok...when they tell him to do things like put a thumb up etc he hears it and can do it.

He wants to rip the tube out of his throat so apparently he's strapped to the bed but that might come out early next week and see if he starts talking a bit

I thinks it's still touch and go but a lot more positive looking than a couple days ago.

Apparently there's video of the whole thing etc his son has already tracked down from the store. Someone gonna be in trouble with this whole thing.
