Is the weather basically always shit in AK?

The week I was up there I just wore by breathable waders as pants cuz it never stopped drizzling.......just left the old khaki, pleated front, tapered ankle, Dockers in the suitcase.

It seems like it's always drizzly at the harbors. Only been a handful of days I can remember that were nice out while ocean fishing. Now we are into our rainy season which is always right in time for duck hunting... Having the best rain gear is worth every penny up here if you want to go outside

Kwack I'm gonna be in your hood in a month. Staying with a buddy in Soldotna for a week Mid-September. Should I bring the shotgun?

I am not real familiar with the hunting around soldotna for ducks but I know people hunt the kenai flats (I normally only hunt big water like skilak lake in October when I head down that way). If all the ducks will be brown and boring looking. You may get lucky and get a shot at some cranes also. There's a bunch of pot holes out that way. Are you fishing for trout or silvers when you come up?

We'll be after both. Silvers are the main target then rainbows if the salmon are slow or we have our limit. My buddy runs a charter boat on the kenai and we are staying and fishing with him for free. We are also planning to hire a charter to go fish halibut and other deep water species at least one day. I'm probably not gonna hunt when I'm up there. I thought I'd bring the shotty along if I could get out with a local like you but it looks like you are a ways away.
