So, Are You Trying Anything Different This Year?

Fri Jul 04, 2014 10:03 am

New/different equipment (guns, dekes, boats, etc.), new dog, new/different ammo, different locations, different tactics, guided hunts......

I'm going to try some Kent Silver Steel, downsizing the spread(s), and trying some walk-in locations. I'll be also adding some stubble straps to the boat blind (Older Beavertail flip over). Wisconsin may also be an interesting place to look at more closely.

We got an 18.5 Lund Alaskan. I am going to try some open water hunting with it on big water. I have heard that if you put out a few hundred decoys the divers will rip right in and not pay attention to the boat blind.

I may go to Wisconsin for the early teal season.

Hoarding my vacation time so I can actually hunt this fall.

Fighting the urge to take an out of state trip.

Hoping that if I get a new job the transition will take place in November so I can take a couple weeks in between jobs.

I have layout boat hunts scheduled on Pepin and Lake Michigan, never done that before. Also may try and hit up an early teal season shoot in Wisconsin since I'll be purchasing a license over there for the first time.

Giving up duck hunting! Realized it was too mainstream..... Going to take up mountain biking, kayaking and trout fishing.
Ask Al how to successfully nest wood ducks, see you next season.
