WI published the 3 state Teal Summary.

Wed Jan 14, 2015 9:47 am

A 3 state (Wisconsin, Michigan and Iowa) analysis and summary of the 2014 early teal season is available and has been posted to our webpage. You can access the report by searching the department’s website using the keyword “waterfowl” or by visiting this link http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/hunt/documents/ ... ummary.pdf. This report provides a break down and analysis of of how the first season of the three year experiment went.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact Kent Van Horn, Migratory Game Bird Ecologist or Taylor Finger, Assistant Migratory Game Bird Ecologist

Good timing! I was just thinking about your previous post on this topic as the waterfowl symposium approaches. Was also trying to remember if fowler commented on the lack of infractions in WI.

Yes ! It's only a 3 year study... down to 2 now. Who knows it may go away forever or this study may prove its a viable option. Not to disrespect the southerners... but I would think MN hunters would shoot far less non-teal than some states. I would like to see the outcome of this study on say LA., MS., or AR.

Not a chance in hell.

The number of non teal those other states have around is nothing compared to our state. Nothing.

More non teal would die here. Period.

Personally, and I know the Feds wouldn't go for this....I think it should include spoonbills as well, up and down the flyway. Spoonies are in the teal family. Just saying!

Well never know unless the MN DNR decides to do it.

I don't doubt for a second that we have more non-teal species in MN than the souther states. But I doubt we have that many more than Wisconsin, Iowa, and michigan. All those guys seemed to do ok.
