The woodducks really do seem thick. Caught a great view of a dozen drakes dropping into a pond South of Battle Lake. Looked like a freaking Redlin painting

All I know is it was peaceful around here till a couple days ago. Now the juvi Canada's have shown up. Even seen a few bigger flocks of mallards the last day or so.

Molts must be on the move. Saw several large bunches moving north this morning, big flocks!

Funny, driving I-94 south this morning and 3 groups of geese in V-Formation were heading North, and I says to myself, "Mold migration must be on..."

The new family groups are congregating as the goslings are now the size of footballs + head/neck. A lot of fresh sprouted row crop is losing ground around ponds.

The white cheeks must be that mold you are talking about

The spring was 2-3 weeks early, and the molt migration is the same - early.

5:30-6:30 a.m. in Chan- juvies either heading out to feed or heading. Small groups, so they might not be leaving the MN Valley Refuge.

But man, the pulse beats a bit when those honks start echoing.
